Overview:
The Tuskens (better known as Sand People)
are best known around my household for their unique war cry. In fact,
that's my favorite thing about these guys! I'm sure if you close your
eyes you can see that Tusken Raider screaming now as he stands over
Luke and shakes his gaffi stick high above his head. Practice that
crazy sound so you can imitate it to your opponent! Given their limited
role in the Star Wars movies, it's interesting to me that they got a
faction before the Gungans or the Ewoks.
This team consists of only three figures which obviously limits your options. Their are such that they could make a decent team. The real problem is that
two of the three figures are small base figures, making them very easy
to pick off. Those Tuskens won't last long unless there are a lot of
them together in a tight defensive formation.
Strikers:
The Tusken Raiders
had some real potential, but Hasbro completely ruined it by giving them
8 speed. What is the reasoning behind that?? At least make it ten! You
combine that with their small base and they're lucky if they even get to the battle.
Launchers:
Given the fact that he's a ten point
figure, the Tusken Sniper is about what you'd expect. He holds his gun
like the Wookiee Scout, and that makes him an easy target if his gun is
empty. With a loaded gun he can form a tripod which can help out his
defense. But even with the tripod in place, the Tusken Sniper is pretty
easy to take down.
Other:
The Tusken Warlord gets
his own category, and I'm again confused as to what the logic was
behind this figure. Is the prod attack really worth it? When used
correctly, he's guaranteed to get one kill. However, he'll never get
multiple kills, and I don't understand why he only has ten speed. He
has a good power, and that makes me scratch my head as well. I really don't see why any Tusken would deserve the best in the game... and he gets the fifth highest ratio to boot!
Special Powers:
As I just stated, the Warlord has a good power (58%), activating as long as there's another Tusken left on your team. The Tusken Raider has an (15%) for any Tusken, which could certainly be beneficial for any one
of the three figures on the team. The Tusken Sniper has a (15%) for any of your defeated Tuskens. For only having three figures
(and two of those being 10 pointers), those are respectable .
Effects:
The Tuskens don't have any of their own
Effects figures, but they could benefit mildly from R2-Q5, allowing a
Tusken Raider to move 16 tix.
Other Figures:
S2 Starter
Kenobi or Armored Vader are almost a must on this team, as the only
Striker is limited with his 8 speed. Series 2 Boba Fett could jump
right into this group, because the Tusken Sniper is a Specialist and
would support Fett's power. When you bring these figures into the team, the Tuskens are relegated to the role of support figures.
